Application Instructions for Heat Press.
Heat press should be set at 275 degrees. Pre-press for 2-3 seconds to release moisture and help transfer powder to adhere. Place transfer and press for 7 seconds at medium pressure, hot peel carrier sheet, then press again for 5 seconds to seal in the design.
ZLL hack for full larger designs (full front or full back). Use a piece of parchment paper, or embroidery backing, for the post 5 second press. This will help the transfer become a softer feel!
Application Instructions for household iron.
Because irons don't distribute heat as evenly as a commercial heat press, your success will come down to pressure, temperature, and timing.
*Steam must be completely turned off, use the cotton/linen setting.
Iron the fabric where the design will go for 5–10 seconds. This removes wrinkles and, more importantly, evaporates any trapped moisture that could ruin the transfer adhesive.
Place transfer, then cover with parchment paper or a thin Teflon sheet (do not use wax paper),
-
Do not use a sweeping, back-and-forth ironing motion. This will shift the film and blur the design.
-
Instead, place the iron down firmly on one section of the design.
-
Lean into it! You need heavy, steady pressure.
-
Hold the iron completely still for 15 to 20 seconds.
-
If the design is larger than your iron, lift the iron, move it to the next section, overlapping slightly, and press for another 15–20 seconds. Repeat until the entire design has been pressed.
The Peel
-
-
Hot Peel: Peel the plastic film off immediately while it is still hot, using a swift, smooth motion.
-
The Second Press (For Longevity)
-
To make sure the design survives the washing machine, place the parchment paper back over the newly exposed design.
-
Press the entire design one more time with the iron (and parchment paper covering transfer) using medium pressure for 5 to 10 seconds. This locks the ink into the fabric fibers and removes that plasticky shine, giving it a premium, matte finish.
